Christopher Emmanuel "Chris" Paul (born May 6, 1985) is the American professional basketball player for the L . A . Clippers on the National Basketball Association (NBA). Standing at 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) and weighing 175 lb (79 kg), he has started exclusively at the position of point guard. Paul has won the NBA Rookie of the Year Honor, an Olympic gold medal, and brought a NBA for assists three times and steals six times. He has already been chosen to seven NBA All-Star teams, six All-NBA teams, and six All-Defensive clubs.

Paul was a McDonald's All-American in high school. He attended Wake Forest University for two years of university basketball when he helped the Demon Deacons achieve their 1st truly number one ranking. He was elected 4th all round in the 2005 NBA draft with the New Orleans Hornets and traded into the Clippers in 2011.

In December 8, 2011, the Hornets accepted a three-team deal transferring Paul for the Los Angeles Lakers. A NBA, which owned the team at the time, nullified the offer, along with commissioner David Stern claiming New Orleans would be better off holding Paul.The teams involved on the transaction tried out to lobby the league to change its ruling and reconstruct the offer to no avail.On December 12, the Hornets approved a trade sending Paul for the Los Angeles Clippers, even so the deal broke down after the NBA added additional demands for the original terms. Two days further, the teams now formed the trade, transferring Paul and two future 2nd round draft picks for the Clippers for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, plus the Minnesota Timberwolves' unprotected first round pick within the 2012 draft. Upon the deal's conclusion, Paul declared which he would choose in the final year for his agreement and remain in L . A . for about two more seasons.
